Gorgeous 1930's oversized Tavannes chronograph in solid stainless Staybrite steel with fantastic original Breguet numeral dial featuring outer telemetre track and inner tachymeter "snail" with mirrored details.  I just love the way those deep blue steel hands complete the high Art Deco look to perfection.  Cyma/Tavannes was one of the top manufactures back in its heyday from the 1910's to 1960's and this is a superb example of that attention to quality, craftsmanship and design.  The complex dial is beautifully balanced and legible.  It is far bigger then most watches of this era at 39mm in diameter excluding the crown and pushers which again adds to its legibility and a strong presence on the wrist.  The case is crafted from the highest quality steel available at the time, Staybrite steel which still has its original brushed polished finish with minor wear throughout.  Inside we find a very rare and early Landeron calibre 52 column wheel movement also of superb quality and design.  You will notice the olive shape pushers are quite a ways around the case towards the lugs which is largely due to the oversize diameter of the case and very similar to many early Eberhard chronographs of the same era, some of which used the same movement.  A truly gorgeous vintage 1930s chronograph of the highest quality from the house of Cyma/Tavannes of Switzerland.

Circa: 1930's

Style: Sport, Chronograph

Case: Oversized 3-piece solid stainless steel Staybrite case measuring 39mm in diameter excluding the crown and only 12mm thick including the low dome crystal.  Original brushed/polished condition with light wear throughout.  The olive shape pushers have lost there original chrome plating but still match the look of the watch to perfection.  A nicely chosen replacement crown has been installed as the original was too damaged to use.  Inside the back is correctly stamped Staybrite. 18mm lug spacing.

Dial: Gorgeous factory original silver dial with black and blue printed details, Breguet numersals, constant seconds and 30 minute counter sub-dials.  The outer Telemetre and inner Tachymeter scales are printed in blue with a mirrored ring just outside the 1/5th seconds track and hours printed in black.  Signed Tavannes, Swiss Made.  Lightly patinaed condition, still very bright and beautifully aged to perfection.  The stunning blued steel alpha style hands are also in excellent lightly patinaed condition, matching the dial to perfection.

Movement: A very rare, early version of the Landeron caliber 52 manual wind movement with column wheel design, signed Tavannes.  Freshly serviced by our watchmaker and in excellent working condition with our full 1 year mechanical warranty.  Nice Breguet overcoil hairspring with beautifully shaped and finished levers and springs.  Light signs of age throughout.
