Absolutely stunning solid 18k gold Cartier Santos Damoiselle ladies wristwatch in superb near mint condition throughout with full length bracelet, sapphire crystal and blue sapphire set crown complete with box and papers dating the watch to 2006. This watch has had only one owner who, over the years, has only worn it a handful of times to special social events. It is in virtually new condition with no visible signs of wear. The silver opaline dial is absolutely gorgeous with that classic Cartier roman numeral design and those clean, sword-shaped blued-steel hands to complete the high Art Deco look to perfection. The case measures 19 mm wide excluding the crown by 24mm lug tip to tip and is only 5.5 mm thick and the bracelet is sharp and tight with all links present. This is a very elegant and somewhat petite watch on a woman’s wrist yet gracefully commands attention by it beautiful gold color and timeless design. The high grade in house Cartier caliber 059 movement has just had a new battery installed and is keeping perfect time. The back of the watch is also correctly stamped with all of the necessary hallmarks and reference numbers, Cartier, Water Resistant, Swiss Made, 750 (18k), with model reference number 2699. It comes complete with its original red display box with inner cushion, the instruction manual and warranty books as well as its outer white Cartier box within which it all securely fits. This outer white box (not shown) shows a bit of wear from storage, but this truly is the only sign the watch is not brand new. A very special Cartier from the famous Santos line, originally designed in 1904 and named after the early aviator Alberto Santos. His famous original Santos watch was worn on the wrist so he could tell the time while flying, and is now widely credited with the rise in popularity of the wristwatch in the early 20th century. What you see here is not only a beautifully crafted piece of fine jewelry, but a truly exemplary example of watch and design history.
