Terms of Sale
Meticulous Watches specializes in one of a kind vintage timepieces and therefore are sold on a first come first serve basis. Any watch that has been marked "Hold" is in the process of payment settlement and should be considered sold unless the "Hold" label is removed. Unless other arrangements are made between the purchaser and Meticulous Watches, payment must be settled within 7 business days of the initial purchase request. All prices on our website are originally listed in US dollars although our online currency converter calculates the approximate price in multiple currencies for our international clients. All payments must be received in US dollars unless another arrangement have been made or the purchase is completed at our storefront in Victoria, BC, Canada.
Timekeeping Ability of Vintage Watches
A well maintained and frequently serviced vintage mechanical watch tends to keep time within 1 or 2 minutes per day or better in many circumstances. Usually the higher the initial quality of the watch the more likely it is to keep accurate time. Even small details such as minor wear on the mechanisms wheel pivots, due to infrequent or incorrect servicing can greatly affect the performance of a watch. Some of the timepieces on our site are 75 to 125 years old and replacement parts are extremely difficult to acquire. These watches will often work very well, but sometimes cannot be expected to consistently keep time better then within a few minutes per day. Often these older watches are seen as rare and valuable collector pieces and not necessarily as accurate timekeeping instruments. It must be noted that virtually no mechanical watch whether it is made today or in years past can rival the accuracy of a contemporary quartz mechanism.
Warranty and Repairs
All our watches are carefully cleaned, repaired, detailed and timed by our watchmakers and carry a full 90 day warranty from date of purchase to function within the guidelines specified above. This does not cover damage to mechanism parts caused by misuse, an impact or water damage. If your watch is not performing within the guidelines specified above you must contact us before you return the watch to make sure the repair will be covered by the warranty. We reserve the right to offer a full refund instead of performing the repair. Damage to external parts of the watch such as crystals, bands, bracelets, lugs, cases, bezels or buckles are not covered by this warranty and are the responsibility of the purchaser.
Once a return has been approved, all watches must be sent with a tracking number and insurance and must be labeled "For Repair and Return" if a customs declaration form is required. The purchaser of the watch is fully responsible for the item until it is received by Meticulous Watches.
Return and Exchange Information
If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase and wish to return a item for a refund you must contact Meticulous Watches within 3 days of receipt. Once we confirm the return via email and the item is received back (within 14 days) in the same condition it was originally shipped we will issue a full refund minus a 10% restocking fee (unless the watch was miss-described) and original shipping costs. Exchanges are also accepted at equal value within the same guidelines as listed above. The purchaser of the returning item is fully responsible for it until it is received by Meticulous Watches. Special instructions given by us on how to mark any customs documents required to return the item must be followed.
Please note that when a discount is given on the purchase of multiple items they can be all returned as specified above for a full refund minus 10% restocking fee and shipping cost, but if only a portion of the original order is returned the refund will only be the difference between the full original retail price of the items kept and the total amount paid.
If a purchase is made with store credit and the item returned, the refund will also be issued as store credit, not as a cash refund.
"Waterproof" Watches
Many of the watches listed on our site indicate that they are "Waterproof". Even if this were true when originally sold many years ago they should not be treated as such today. Sometime this is simply due to an unreliable "waterproof" design or because the rubber gaskets are old and stiff and therefore no longer effective in keeping the watch waterproof. You are purchasing a rare and collectable timepiece, so to keep it in good condition it is always best keep it away from water and humidity whenever possible.
