A stunning high Art Deco vintage 1930's Cartier convertible travel watch in solid sterling silver with sliding, spring loaded mechanism for opening the watch with one hand. The craftsmanship here is superb, produced by the Eterna Watch Co of Switzerland and retailed by Cartier, this precious miniature clock oozes 1930's style and class in both function and design with pinstripe decoration on the covers with a classic Art Deco dial with blue steel hands. One simply places the piece in one hand, pulls slightly on the bar just above the personalized "S" engraving, sliding the front of the case slightly down which then releases the spring and it opens to show the time within. This module then slides further forward on the back to be display the time on your bedside table or desk. A truly rare and elegant piece of Cartier horological history in superb all original condition throughout.

Case: Solid sterling silver case with engraved pinstripe decoration on the outer covers and within surrounding the removable square shape watch housing. The outer case measures 39mm by 37mm by 12mm when closed and sits 43mm tall when open on a table. Signed inside Eterna Watch Co, Swiss, Sterling Silver, 0.935 with the case makers mark Niel HF, the famous house of Huguenin Freres. The serial number 3001632 is stamped 3 times, once with the Brevet + Dem Swiss patent symbol. Superb condition throughout with nice spring when opening the watch.
Dial: Stunning original factory printed dial with Art Deco style printed numbers and outer minute track with engraved center matching the design of the case, signed Cartier, Swiss. Excellent clear and sharp condition with a perfect light even patina giving it an unmistakable vintage feel. The blue steel hands have also patinaed to a near black colour matching the dial to perfection.
Movement: Superb quality Eterna Watch Co signed 15 jewel manually wound movement with decorative 4 bridge design, adjusted to 3 positions. Freshly serviced and in excellent working condition, keeping great time. It comes with our full 1-year mechanical warranty.
Note: Several other examples of this model sold by Cartier can be found online (notably one example sold by Sotheby's in 2021) although this is the only one I have seen with this beautiful Art Deco printed dial.
