An exceptionally rare and beautiful solid 14k gold oversized wristwatch in wonderful 1920's Art Nouveau style with a deeply curved tank style case, "exploding numbers" dial, hidden lugs and high quality swiss movement within, freshly serviced and keeping great time. This watch just oozes style and class from the era of Fedora hats and flapper dresses, with a side profile much like the famous Cartier Cintrèe with screws to hold the case together on each corner.  It has a fantastic presence on the wrist measuring in at 44mm top to bottom, curved to fit the shape of your wrist fitted with a simple black leather strap that is attached inside the case with two spring bars before the movement, crystal and bezel are screwed in place.  This example also has a beautiful hand engraved message on the back in Finnish, which roughly translated reads "Reino Grapelle, from the artillery comrades in the 11th field battery". Imagine the hero this man would have been to these men to deserve such a gift.  A truly special vintage timepiece with a wonderful aged feel, timeless style and military history.

Circa: 1920's

Style: Art Nouveau, Dress

Case: Solid 14k gold stamped and hallmarked case measuring 44mm long by 23mm wide excluding the crown.  The strap is held inside the case with spring bars over which the movement, dial, crystal and bezel are installed with 4 screws holding it all in place.  The case shows wear consistent with age with a small repair made around the screw at 11 o'clock.  It is fitted with a soft, simple black leather 18mm strap with vintage gold filled buckle, not original but chosen to match the style of the era.  The original old and mottled thick high dome, customs made glass crystal has lots shows equal age to the case and is held in place under the bezel.

Dial: Original factor printed, naturally aged dial with fantastic "exploding numbers" that stretch from a central oval minute track to the outer edge of the rectangular form.  Very much in the same style as the famous Patek Philippe Gondolo examples of the same era.

Movement: High quality Swiss made manually wound movement with 15 jewels and blue steel hairspring.  Unsigned. Freshly serviced here at Meticulous and keeping good time and comes with our full 1-year mechanical warranty.
