A rare and beautiful vintage 1953 Rolex Oyster Perpetual semi-bubbleback wristwatch featuring a wonderful honeycomb textured factory printed original dial housed in a 34.5mm diameter two-tone case with solid 18k gold bezel and stainless steel body, freshly serviced here at Meticulous and keeping great time, ready to wear! I just love how the blue steel centre seconds hand completes the unmistakable vintage 1950's Rolex look. The dial is bright and legible with only light wear to the surface in a few spots giving it that perfect warm vintage feel on the wrist. Case: Solid stainless steel case with 18k yellow gold bezel, measuring 34.5mm in diameter excluding the signed gold Rolex crown that screws down perfectly to the case. Nice lightly worn bushed and polished finish with a shallow engraving on the back dating to 1955. The 19mm lug spacing is fitted with a high quality light brown genuine leather croco grain strap by Rios with generic solid stainless steel buckle. Signed inside the back Rolex, Geneve, Swiss, Patented with the production date stamp 2-53 and the model 6284 crossed our and then re-stamped 6286. The same case back was used for the full stainless model 6284 so these were altered to fit the 6286 gold bezel examples. Between the lugs at 12 is also stamped Brevet 6286 with the second 6 overprinted on top of the original 4 to correctly signify the rare gold bezel variation. A very rare and interesting insight into Rolex production standards at the time! The case is fully tested and waterproof to 3 bars at the time of service with the crown screwed down.
Dial: Wonderful factory printed original textured dial with white background and applied gold markers and printed outer 1/5th seconds track. Signed Rolex Oyster Perpetual, Officially Certified Chronometer, Swiss. Light wear and patina, ,but overall very bright and legible with a lovely vintage look.
Movement: High-grade Rolex caliber 645 fully automatic movement with center seconds, signed on the rotor Rolex Perpetual Chronometer, Swiss Made, Patented, Vis Tirette, Trigger Screw, Patented, Self-Winder, 2 Ruby Jewels. The movement under the automatic mechanism is also fully Rolex signed with 17 additional jewels.
