In the 1950's and 60's Rolex made some incredibly rare and interesting textured dials many of which were sold on the Canadian market. The so called "Chevron" style dial you see here is just one of those rare beauties. Manufactured in 1957, this Rolex Oyster Precision has a wonderful vintage feel on the wrist with its herringbone style, quartered dial with geometric patterning and applied 3-6-9 Explorer style hour markers with Alpha hands and that always beautiful blue steel centre seconds. It has a lovely aged tropic patina with a bit of fading to the original print. This manually wound Rolex model 6944 is housed in a solid stainless steel Oyster case with a flat back and very nice thin profile measuring only 9.5mm thick including the high dome crystal. Freshly serviced here at Meticulous the 17 jewel caliber 1210 movement is running strong and keeping great time, ready to wear!

Case: Solid stainless steel Rolex Oyster case measuring 34mm in diameter excluding the original signed screw-down crown. The condition is consistent with light wear through the decades as most of the original brushed finish has become smooth on the tops of the lugs but it does not seem to have been re-polished so has a lovely honest 1950's look. The 19mm lug spacing has been fitted with a nicely matched distressed leather strap with stainless steel buckle. Stamped between the lugs with a serial number in the 290XXX range dating it to 1957, then inside the back Montres Rolex SA, Geneva, Switzerland, Patented, Stainless Steel, 6422, III 57. Tested water resistant at time of service.
Dial: Rare and beautiful Chevron textured original factory printed dial with applied hour markers, signed Rolex Oyster Precision, Swiss. Some of the hour marker show some ageing and the dial overall has a light even patina give it a lovely tropic look. Matching original Alpha style hands with steel blue centre seconds hand.
