Beautiful 1930's Art Deco example of the famous Rolex Oyster with classic two-tone silver with black printed dial housed in a heavy solid stainless steel case. The early oversize Oyster Patent crown, original factory printed dial and rare movement make this a very collectable early Rolex model. Don't miss it, the Oysters of this era and style is getting very hard to find!!
Style: Art Deco
Circa: 1936
Case: Sturdy solid stainless steel case with screw down coin edge back and large Oyster Patent screw down crown. Measures 30.5mm across excluding the crown and comes on a 17mm wide leather strap. The crown itself is huge measuring 6mm in diameter and screws down nicely. Classy engraving on the reverse reads C.H.Adkins 1936 which would be about the correct date for then this watch was originally sold, just 10 after the oyster case was first invented in 1926. Inside the back is signed Oyster Watch Co. Geneve Swiss, Great Britian Patents, Swiss Patents, French Patents, USA Patents, German Patents, Modele Depose, Systeme Brevete, SAR, RM.
Dial: Original factory printed two-tone silvered dial with bold black printed numbers, diagonal two-tone decoration and small seconds at 6:00. Signed Rolex Oyster, Swiss Made. This dial is in good overall condition and still looks fantastic on the wrist, although as you can see much of the lettering in the word Rolex is missing although the word Oyster is still quite clear, as is the rest of the printing. From the high Art Deco period, this example has seen better days, but in truth still is very readable and looks quite sharp on the wrist. Nice original blue steel baton hands are also in overall good condition with only a couple of minor marks.
Movement: Rare early Rolex 10 1/2 ligne hunter manual wind movement with unusual bridge design signed Rolex, 15 Rubis, Swiss Made, Fab. Suisse. Overall excellent condition with just a slight patina on the movement plates. Recently serviced by our watchmaker and in excellent working condition.
