A stunning vintage 1987 Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submariner in solid stainless steel with rare and beautiful "shattered" spider-dial in a sharp, unpolished case with original solid link bracelet and box. An amazing example of this timeless Rolex sport model, it is stunning on the wrist with details that make it truly special. The original factory dial is spectacular with a micro-crazed pattern over the black background that is almost invisible while on the wrist, but truly beautiful and fascinating under magnification. From the mid to late 1980's Rolex used a glossy finish dial on this long running series of dive watches, many of which today have started to crack or craze in unusual and interesting ways. Some have more of a spiderweb look where as this example looks almost shattered with a micro-pattern that is truly special and unique. The case and bracelet have never been polished, still showing original chamfers (polished bevels) on the lugs with gentle surface wear throughout. Even the original green case back sticker is present with the faint impression of the model number 5513 still visible. A gorgeous vintage Rolex Submariner in every way that comes in its original box, freshly serviced here at Meticulous, keeping chronometer grade time ready to wear.

Circa: 1987

Style: Sport

Case: Fully signed solid stainless steel case with original bezel and screw down crown measuring 40mm in diameter with 20mm lug spacing. Stamped between the lugs at 12:00 with model number 5513 and at 12:00 with the serial number in the R579XXX range dating the watch approximately to 1987. The inside case back is correctly signed Montre Rolex SA, Geneva, Switzerland, Stainless Steel, 5512 (still correct for this model as Rolex sometimes put the 5512 case backs on the model 5513's at this point in production). The original 5513 case back sticker on this example also suggests this case back is original to the watch. The 93150 solid link bracelet with 580 end links is also in superb, lightly worn condition, still quite tight and unpolished/brushed with 14 total links including the endlinks.  Stamped inside the clasp with an L4 date code, also indicating it was made in 1987.

Dial: Truly stunning 100% original factory printed gloss dial in superb overall condition with white gold surround luminous hour markers and white printed text. Signed Rolex Oyster Perpetual, Submariner, 660ft - 200M, Swiss T - <25. The original matching hands are also in very good condition with matching tritium luminous to the dial with just a couple of small imperfections on the hands themselves.

Movement: High grade Rolex in-house manufactured caliber 1530 automatic movement, fully signed Montre Rolex SA, Geneva, 26 Fine Rubis, Unadjusted, Swiss, 1520 with hacking seconds so the watch stops when the crown is pulled out to set the time.  Freshly serviced here at Meticulous and keeping chronometer grade time with our full 1 year mechanical warranty.
