Awesome oversize WW2 era Longines Aviators wristwatch with massive solid stainless steel case and rare calibre 15.68Z manually wound movement. Originally designed to wear over a flight suit this massive military timepiece measures 41mm across excluding the original crown and comes on a black canvas NATO style strap with stainless steel fittings. A highly desirable vintage collectible in beautiful fully restored condition with recently serviced movement and superbly crafted re-finished dial, ready to wear.
Style: Military
Circa: 1946
Case: Massive solid stainless steel 3-piece cushion shape case with wide heavy lugs and coin edge bezel. The bezel would have originally rotated to mark flight departure time, but like most examples of this model it is now frozen in place with the arrow marker at 12:00. The case is in unpolished condition so shows some minor wear consistent with age, but no major scratches or dents. Inside is correctly stamped Acier Inox, Longines, 23313, 521.
Dial: Beautifully re-finished original dial with bold cream on black numbers, scrolled Longines signature and sub-seconds at 6:00. I believe the hands to also be original, but the cream luminous has been re-applied to match the number on the dial. A truly superb copy of the original design with excellent quality craftsmanship and a beautiful vintage look.
Movement: Extremely rare Longines calibre 15.68Z manual wind movement signed Longines with serial number dating it to 1946. Some minor spots or corrosion on the ratchet wheel but in overall excellent condition with bright colour plates and deep red ruby 15 jewel train. Recently serviced by our watchmaker and in excellent working condition.
