An absolutely gorgeous 1973 Seiko Automatic "Captain Willard" dive watch with stunning original matte black dial featuring perfectly aged luminous markers matching the original hands in an unpolished case with beautiful original bezel. This timepiece is in remarkable condition, a tool watch that obviously was not used as one! It does have light surface wear throughout from gentle use over the years, but is remarkably well preserved in all respects. It is rare to find these with such beautifully aged cream colour tritium luminous matching not only the hands but the bezel pip as well. Set on a replica waffle style rubber strap it has that classic vintage feel and takes you right back to Martin Sheen wearing it in the classic movie Apocalypse Now from where the Captain Willard name originates. The movement has been freshly serviced here at Meticulous and is keeping great time, ready to wear!

Case: Solid stainless steel case measuring 44mm in diameter excluding the original signed locking crown which functions perfectly. Some of the original brushed finish on the top is still visible, but much of the case has been worn off due to use. The edges are clean and crisp with the verticle brush on the back still very much intact. Signed on the back Seiko, Stainless Steel, 6105-8119, Water Resistant, Japan A, with a serial number in the 300XXX range dating it to 1973. I believe the glass crystal may have been changed at some point as it is perfectly clean and sharp. The lug spacing is 19mm which has been fitted with an aftermarket replica 20mm waffle style strap with generic buckle. Pressure tested as water resistant to 5 bar.
Dial: Stunning factory original matte black dial with large cream colour luminous markers and date aperture at 3:00. The matching original hands have exactly the same glow in blacklight as the dial with just a bit of discoloration near the middle of the minute hand. The dial is correctly signed Seiko Automatic, Water 150M Resist, Japan 6105 - 8009T.
