A stunning 1978 solid 18k yellow gold Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT Master in truly wonderful cosmetic condition throughout, featuring a gorgeous factory original black "nipple" dial with gilt printing, original fat font bezel insert and full length Jubilee style bracelet, freshly serviced here at Meticulous and ready to wear. This classic Rolex sport model reference number 1675/8 has a bold presence on the wrist with its 40mm diameter case and fantastic deep black dial with nipple style hour markers and matching gold hand set. The case has a beautiful brushed and polished finish with a bracelet that is in excellent condition for its age, still sharp with minimal stretch. Case: Heavy solid 18 yellow gold case with bi-directional rotating bezel measuring 40mm in diameter excluding the original signed screw-down crown and crown guards. The original bezel insert has champagne colour fat-font numbers with oval 8's and very minimal fading with just a couple of very small imperfections to note. The bezel itself has sharp dimple texture around the edge and turns with nice friction. Inside the back is fully signed Montres Rolex SA, Geneva, Switzerland, Patented, 18k, 0.750, 1675 with Geneva case makers mark 12 in a key denoting the case was made by Genex who produced cases for Rolex between 1940 and 1985. The serial number stamped between the lugs at 6:00 is in the 5462XXX range dating the watch to 1978. The plastic crystal is in excellent condition, clear and sharp and the watch has been pressure tested waterproof at the time of service. The original factory made Jubilee style bracelet is also in wonderful condition with hollow links and very minor stretch, signed on the clasp Patented & Registered, Swiss Made, 18K, Rolex SA, 750 with endlinks stamped on the inside with the correct number 54. The bracelet is full length with soldered-in links (non-removable) and at its current length can be adjusted to fit from a 7" to 7 3/4" wrist. Also in beautiful brushed/polished condition. If a shorter length is required a professional jeweler can remove some of the links if so desired.
Dial: Original factory printed black dial with gilt printed details and applied circular "nipple" style hour markers with small tritium fill matching the original hand set. Signed Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master, Superlative, Chronometer, Officially Certified, T Swiss Made T. This is a Mark 5 style dial, correct for a serial number in the 5.4 million range.
