A rare and wonderful 1940's vintage Longines Lindbergh Hour Angle wristwatch with a fantastic vintage look featuring its original lightly patina'ed inner and outer dials and blue steel hands, housed in a beautiful gold filled case with rotating bezel and extra crown to turn the inner 60-minute dial.  I just love how this watch looks on the wrist with all of that navigational tool-watch complication built into its 33mm diameter case.  A true piece of Longines history designed by Lindbergh in collaboration with Philip Van Horn weems as a navigational aid for pilots, both civilian and military. When used in together with a sextant, a nautical almanac, and radio set for receiving the time signal, this design made it possible to quickly calcualte the Greenwich hour angle or your current longitude.  Longines produced this watch as a smaller, civilian example in exactly the same style and design as the larger, stainless steel versions used on Lindbergh's transatlantic flight.  It is fitted with a period correct strap and possibly its original, signed Longines gold filled buckle.  Freshly serviced here at Meticulous it is running beautifully, keeping excellent time with our full 1-year mechanical warranty.  Please note, the vintage Longines box the watch is pictured with is not original to the watch and not included in the sale.

Circa: 1940

Style: Aviators, Pilot, Sport

Case: Beautifully designed and manufactured 10k Gold Filled case measuring 33mm in diameter excluding the crowns with 16mm lug spacing fitted with a vintage light brown leather strap and signed Longines buckle.  The original crown at 2 o'clock turns the inner grey dial smoothly with light friction and while the bezel does turn, it gets a little stiff in a couple of places... which unless you are doing some navigational calculations is not such a big deal in my books.  The case back has a personal engraving, then is signed inside Cased And Timed In USA By Longines, 10K Gold Filled.  Excellent overall condition with light wear throughout and almost no wear through to the base metal underneath.  A new low dome plastic crystal has been installed.

Dials: Gorgeous lightly tropic patinaed factory printed dials with outer roman numeral hour makers.  Signed Longines, Swiss.  Gorgeous original blue steel hands to match.

Movement:  Superb high-grade in-house Longines designed and manufactured caliber 10L (10.68Z) manual wind movement with indirect center seconds and custom parts under the dial to turn the inner dial.  Signed Longines Watch Co. Swiss,  15 Jewels, 10L, Unadjusted with a serial number in the 6.0 million range dating it to approximately 1940.  Freshly serviced and in excellent working condition with our full 1-year mechanical warranty.
