A stunning 1972 Rolex "double red" Sea-Dweller in superb condition throughout featuring a Mark 3 dial with beautiful cream color tritium lume matching the original hands and kissing 40 bezel insert with original pip. The case is correctly stamped between the lugs with the helium escape value at the 9 o'clock position, original crown and fully signed case back with personal engraving. Comes on its original 9315 oyster style folded-link bracelet with 285 ends in remarkably tight, clean condition. This watch is on consignment with me from the original Victoria, BC owner who is willing, but not in a rush to sell, knows what he has and will consider serious offers. Case: Original "Rolex Patented" solid stainless steel case measuring 40mm in diameter with small helium escape valve at 9 o'clock, original crown and bezel, correctly stamped between the lugs with the model reference number 1665 and serial number in the 3.4 million range. The case back is full stamped "Rolex Patent, Gas Escape Valve, Oyster" with a personal engraving common on these models done at the time of purchase. When the back is tightened the Rolex logo and personal engraving line up perfectly from top to bottom of the watch. Inside is also correctly stamped Montres Rolex SA, Geneva Switzerland, Patented, Stainless Steel, 1665 with date stamp 1.72 (first quarter of 1972). The bracelet is the original 9315 with 285 endlinks and is in remarkably tight and clean condition as well with the date stamp of 4.71 (4th quarter of 1971) on the inner clasp. 13 total links present including endlinks. This watch professionally serviced about 2 years ago at which time the case and bracelet were polished and brushed. Then has sat in unworn condition since then.
Dial: Stunning near mint factory original "Mark 3" dial with no visible imperfections, beautiful cream color tritium luminous and all of the correct details to identify it as the 3rd version of the double red Sea Dweller dials (See details here). Signed Rolex, Oyster Perpetual Date, Sea-Dweller, Submariner 2000, 2000ft = 610m, Superlative Chronometer, Officially Certified, Swiss - T < 25. Matched perfectly by the original hands with original tritium luminous perfectly in tact with just a bit of light coloring on the steel in a couple of places.
Movement: High grade Rolex in-house calibre 1570 automatic movement in excellent working condition, freshly service in the last 2 years. Correctly signed Montres Rolex SA, Twenty Six 26 Jewels, Adjusted 5 Positions And Temperature, Swiss, 1570. The rotor shows a small amount of cosmetic imperfection, but the rest of the movement plates and parts are in excellent condition. Running strong and keeping excellent time.
