Style: Art Deco, Chronograph

Circa: 1940's

Case: Large early waterproof design in solid stainless steel. Four small screws on the back of the bezel tighten the two part case firmly together. 38mm diameter. 20mm strap.

Dial: Original factory printed deco style 3-tone dial with copper colour numbers and markers. Outer Tachymeter track in black. Inset continuous seconds dial and minute counter at 9:00 and 3:00. Signed Cyma Watersport, Shock-Absorber.

Movement: Beautiful 17 Jewel Swiss Valjoux Caliber 22 Chronograph movement signed Cyma. Recently serviced and in excellent working condition.

A rare early waterproof chronograph from the 1940's, this high grade Cyma is set in a large 38mm diameter all Stainless Steel case in excellent condition. The chronograph function are controlled by two round buttons on either side of the original steel crown. The rare dial with copper plate deco style numbers and markers shows even aging giving this watch that wonderful vintage look. The hands are also all original copper or rose gold plate. Recently service with all functions working well.

Note: This early attempt at waterproofing a chronograph was most likely produced in response to the Rolex Oyster waterproof chronograph of the day. Cyma even went as far as to use the same Swiss made Valjoux caliber 22 movement as the competition.
