An excellent example of the famous Longines Weems military watch with double crown bezel locking system used by pilots to keep track of flying time.  The Weems navigation system, developed by Captain Phillip Van Horn Weems in the 1920's, gave birth to this watch design eventually patented in 1929.  It was eventually mass produced to be sold to the general public to satisfy the aviation enthusiast frenzy of the 1930's and 40's.  This particular example is in excellent condition in a desirable steel case with two original crowns, signed on the dial with the US patent number 2008734.  A must for any aviators watch collection.

Style: Military

Circa: 1943

Case: Solid steel 3 piece case with removable/rotating bezel and snap on back.  The crown at 2:00 is used to lock the bezel in place so the pilot can quickly track flying time between known points on the ground below, therefore calculating position quickly and easily.  The crown at 3:00 wind the watch as usual.  Signed inside the back Cased and Timed in USA by Longines Keystone, Base Metal, 859019.  Measures 28mm diameter, 16mm strap.

Dial: Possibly original factory printed dial but possibly an early refinish, in excellent overall condition, only minor spotting to note.  Signed Longines Weems, U.S. Pat 2008734.

Movement: High grade Longines caliber 10L manual wind movement with direct center seconds and breguet over-coil hairspring.  Signed Longines Watch Co. Swiss, 17 Jewels.  Recently serviced and in excellent working condition.
