Imbued with fantastic vintage character this legendary 1963 Omega Seamaster 300 features a rare original factory printed gilt dial with heavily patinaed green original luminous in a 39mm diameter solid stainless steel case with un-restored rotating bezel, original crown, crystal and 7912 flat link bracelet. I think it looks absolutely gorgeous on the matching green leather strap you see in some of the pictures so that will also be included in the sale. Certainly a well loved timepiece with years of use under its belt, this example is missing the inlay from its original rotating bezel which would have served as a 60 minute counter when diving. This is quite typical of this model as it was easily cracked then feel out during use. This can be restored, but I prefer to maintain the watches original character by leaving it as such. Inside we find a beautiful Omega calibre 552 automatic movement which has just been freshly serviced and keeping great time, ready to wear. A very unique and beautiful example of one of the most famous diving/sport/tool watches in Omega history!
Circa: 1963
Style: Sport
Case: Crafted from top quality Staybrite stainless steel by the famous case maker, Huguenin Freres for Omega, this beautifully manufactured case measures 39mm in diameter excluding the original crown and with original stamped/signed crystal measures only 12.9mm thick. The bezel is truly a work of art in its own right, clicking smoothly over 3 sprung red ruby jewel ball bearings set underneath which precisely measure each step to one minute. The back is correctly signed Certified High Pressure Waterproof, Seamaster on the back with Omega Watch Co, Fab Suisse, Swiss Made, Acier Staybrite, HF (Huguenin Freres) then the model number 165014-63, S.C. The case is in overall excellent condition, perhaps polished in its history but with no major dings or scratches with crisp edges on the bezel and case back and some chamfers left on the lugs. The original Omega bracelet, model number 7912 is complete with number 6 endlinks measuring 19mm to fit the lug spacing with 4 spring loaded links on the 6:00 side and another 6 spring loaded links on the 12:00 side. Also in excellent condition with normal signs of wear and very little stretch.
Dial: Original factory printed satin black dial with gilt printing and original tritium luminous signed Omega Automatic, Seamaster 300, Swiss Made. Naturally patinaed giving it the very unique look you see here and in overall excellent condition, still sharp and clear with all of the printing still in place. The original hands are in steel with the minute hand painted white. Both the hour and minute hands were missing all of there original luminous when the watch came to me so the only cosmetic detail I have added was to refill those with a matching green non-luminous colour.
Movement: High quality in-house Omega caliber 552 with incabloc protection on the balance jewels, signed Omega Watch Co, Swiss, 24 Jewels, 552 and a serial number dating it to 1963. Freshly serviced by our watchmaker and keeping excellent time with our full 1 year mechanical warranty, ready to enjoy.
