A beautifully patinaed, perfectly aged, unpolished Universal Geneve Polerouter Date with original factory printed gilt dial in a big 35.6mm solid stainless steel case with high grade UG in-house calibre 218-2 movement ticking away strong within and keeping good time. One of the most desirable vintage Universal Polerouter models in wonderful vintage condition ready to wear!
Style: Aviator, Sport, Tool Watch
Dial: Rare "tropic" dial with a perfect patina and gold (gilt) printing, cross-hair design and silver chapter ring with trapezoidal date aperture at 3:00. Fully signed Universal Geneve Polerouter Date, Automatic, Swiss T.
Case: Solid stainless steel case with Bombay style lugs measures a full 35.6mm in diameter excluding the original signed U crown and looks to be unpolished with surface wear consistent with its age and light use over the decades. The back still clearly bears the globe Polerouter logo but also has several scratches from slipped case openers visible. Inside is also fully signed with the UG shield logo, Swiss, Acier Inoxydable, Brevet + 317537, Brevet + 337.462 and the code 9-64 which I believe dates it to September 1964.
Movement: The famous Universal in-house caliber 218-2 movement with micro-rotor automatic winding allows for a very thin profile for an automatic watch and while this rotor has a bit of discoloration typical of this movement, the rest is in beautiful cosmetic and mechanical condition, ticking away strong. That said as we have not had a service performed it must be sold as is, in need of service, with no timekeeping warranty.
